On July 9th from 9 am to 1 pm, ABCD will participate in with the American Cancer Society’s Día de la Mujer Latina 2011 (DDLML). This free event centers on breast cancer education, early screening and support services but also provides a variety of other information to help promote healthy Latinas and healthy families.
Free clinical breast exam screenings will be given for the first 100 people who register for exams. The event will be held at South Division High School, 1515 West Lapham Boulevard, Milwaukee.
DDLML is a Milwaukee-area signature event of the American Cancer Society dedicated to educating and eliminating health disparities to breast and cervical cancer access to screening among Latinas. For a number of reasons Latinas are frequently diagnosed with more advanced breast cancer, leading to higher probability of complex treatment and mortality. ABCD is pleased to partner with the American Cancer Society to change this reality and to assure that no one – including Latinas and their loved ones – goes without free one-to-one breast cancer support while battling the disease.
Please join ABCD in spreading the word about DDLML 2011. For more information on how to register for a clinical breast exams call 888.523.7581.
