Renowned artist, Lon Michels, personally chose ABCD as a beneficiary of his ongoing show at the Tory Folliard Gallery (Milwaukee through June 30th) and James Watrous Gallery (Madison, July 6th through August 19th). No matter which exhibit you visit, you will enjoy (perhaps purchase?) the most invigorating contemporary art ever produced by a son of Wisconsin. Yes, Lon’s hometown is Marquette, Wisconsin.
As recorded on his personal web site, Mr. Michels is the son of a fifth generation stone mason. He learned perspective from his fathers work, but followed his mother’s artistic lead early on. Because breast cancer has touched Mr. Michels’ life and because his own health challenges have reinforced his passion for life, he kindly welcomed ABCD at the exhibit’s opening on June 2nd.
These exhibits are yet another example of the creative “third party” events that support ABCD’s mission. Third Party events are especially helpful to ABCD because the planning and implementation are handled by the host. ABCD gladly promotes awareness of third party events as time permits – in our social media and in our general outreach efforts – but our real role is to assure a mission presence at all such events. Whether you’d like ABCD staff and mentors to provide an information table or make a formal presentation, we welcome your support of our support of others through your Third Party event.
