Sendik’s Food Markets Continues ABCD Partnership
Commitment to the Power of One-to-One is Longstanding and Impactful
Balistreri Owned and Operated Sendik’s Food Markets presented ABCD with a check for $40,500 prior to the opening of May 20th Milwaukee Brewers game. Even Bernie Brewer joined in the fun!
Support for ABCD’s work has been a part of Sendik’s Charitable Partners program since 2006 and involves direct corporate support and contributions from Sendik’s loyal customers. This year’s gift is vital as demand for ABCD’s services is up over 100% compared to this time last year.
As ABCD’s model of one-to-one support grows, generous support like that from Sendik’s assures a legacy of long-term impact while also helping people cope with breast cancer today. This support, combined with that of others, is all part of keeping ABCD’s services for patients, family and friends free of charge.
This year’s campaign theme was “Play Ball” and linked ABCD’s and Sendik’s established partnerships with the beloved Milwaukee Brewers. In addition to kicking-off February with the annual Valentine’s Day chocolate promotion at each Sendik’s register and the traditional “Power of One-to-One” ice cream promotion, six special store promotions included baseball fare – brats, hotdogs, chips, buns and, of course, peanuts! As always, sale of Sendik’s Real Food magazine contributed to the fundraising.
Like ABCD, our “hometown” grocer has experienced exponential growth in the past few years, boasting 11 metro area stores with its new Bayside location. Also like ABCD, Sendik’s believes in the power of relationships and the power of community. One demonstration is its extensive Community Involvement Program, which includes the Charitable Partners Program, Red Bag for Charity and many other initiatives.
As Balistreri family member and co-owner, Margaret Harris, noted when the ABCD partnership began, “Breast cancer affects an entire family, as well as friends and other loved ones. We at Sendik’s are humbled to support ABCD’s distinct support services, helping to keep them free of cost, of the highest quality and available to anyone who calls.”
