Helpline Mentors are trained and supported volunteers who are breast cancer survivors. They provide immediate emotional support and reliable information about breast cancer and the survivorship journey.

Helpline Mentors also provide connections to genuinely useful resources, from local support groups to national experts. If we need to do some research to identify breast cancer resources personalized for your journey, we are happy to do so.

For customized one-to-one support Helpline Mentors can help callers connect with an ABCD Match Mentor, someone whose breast cancer journey – from diagnosis to treatment to life’s challenges – were similar to the caller’s. Match Mentors provide ongoing personalized support to survivors and co-survivors/caregivers; support that is both convenient and confidential.

ABCD is delighted that our volunteer Mentors include many alumnae of Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization. One of the oldest breast cancer support organizations in the world, Y-ME closed its doors in July 2012 after 34 years. Its primary service was a 24/7 hotline supported entirely by breast cancer survivors. Their three decades plus of wisdom has enriched ABCD’s services.
